I Got a New Kindle and I Love It

My first Kindle was given to me by my sister. She was upgrading to a newer model and kindly offered me her old one, which my younger self could never refuse. I took one look at the little buttons on each side to turn the page and the keyboard at the bottom and was stunned. A device on which I could pretty much instantly get new things to read with no stock issues and no need to leave the house? Sign me up!

My Reading Routine (or lack thereof)

I’m always curious about how and when people read, especially when they read a dozen or more books a month, but generally too. Do you have a set time to read? A dedicated reading nook? Does most of your reading happen on your commute? Have you often lost sleep for a good book? I want to share my answers to these questions and more in this post.

Monthly Wrap-Up – March 2023: Adventuring into my Discomfort Zone

March was another great month of reading for me. Once again, what I lacked in the volume of books I read was made up for by their quality. I read four books this month, one of which I have chosen not to include in the wrap-up, but I promise I read it and that it was amazing! It was a month of stepping outside of my comfort zone and dipping into some good recommendations, and thankfully I was not left disappointed.

Monthly Wrap-Up – September 2022: I Read a Lot for Once

Looking back on it, September seemed to go really quickly, even though the last couple of weeks have dragged for me. After a *minor* surgery, there was nothing I could really do but read, and so I got through an unusual amount of books this month. Last month, I read just two books, so it shows that I had a lot more time on my hands, because I managed to read double that.

The Goddess Effect by Sheila Yasmin Marikar – Review

Despite its initial focus on wellness and self-improvement, The Goddess Effect is a contemporary fiction novel with an investigative twist. Though light-hearted and refusing to take itself too seriously, Sheila Yasmin Marikar’s novel is laced with moments of depth that remind us of our value as individuals in a world filled with robotic sameness. TheContinue reading “The Goddess Effect by Sheila Yasmin Marikar – Review”

I Found a New Way to Pick My Next Read

Let me introduce you to Amazon First Reads, where you can discover recent releases by authors you may have never heard of with minimal effort. I have no idea how popular the service is, but it has been a staple in my reading life for over a year, allowing me enough time to develop a love-hate relationship with the service.

The Confessions of a Serial Book Buyer: The Sequel

As it appears, I have been unable to cure my addiction to the purchasing of books. Foolishly, I believed that leaning into using my Kindle would lessen my desire to buy pretty books, or at the least introduce a new way of managing it. I could not have been more wrong.

The Keeper of Happy Endings by Barbara Davis – Review

With a blend of magical dress making and historical fiction, Barbara Davis weaves an enchanting tale of both tragic and hopeful discovery. To be honest, I sat down to plan this review and drew a blank. All I could think was, “I loved that”, and sorting my thoughts into coherent sentences seemed impossible, which toContinue reading “The Keeper of Happy Endings by Barbara Davis – Review”

I Think I’ve Fallen in Love With eBooks

About a year ago, I wrote a blog post about how much I wanted to like eBooks but just couldn’t called, ‘The Quest to Fall in Love With eBooks’. The post itself kind of slipped my mind, but after redesigning my blog, I was reminded of the journey I was supposed to actively be onContinue reading “I Think I’ve Fallen in Love With eBooks”
