Welcome to Frequently Read Fridays, a new book-reviewing series I’m starting! The idea of Frequently Read Fridays is to review a book that’s been trendy or popular at any point in time. This will allow me to cover a wide range of books across different genres. As the first of this new series, I’ll review Legends & Lattes by Travis Baldree, even if I am a little bit late to the part on this one.

I Got a New Kindle and I Love It
My first Kindle was given to me by my sister. She was upgrading to a newer model and kindly offered me her old one, which my younger self could never refuse. I took one look at the little buttons on each side to turn the page and the keyboard at the bottom and was stunned. A device on which I could pretty much instantly get new things to read with no stock issues and no need to leave the house? Sign me up!
Monthly Wrap-Up – June 2023: Creature Of Habit
Once again, I started this month with some lofty reading goals, but as I sit down to write this it feels like I read Piranesi, the first book in this wrap-up, months ago. Somehow, though, it was in June, and I got through 3 books this month (as usual), including one that I highly recommend, and I’m excited to give my thoughts on them.
One For My Enemy by Olivie Blake – Review
As a big fan of The Atlas Six, I was eager to read One For My Enemy. I look forward to making my way through all of Olivie Blake’s books, as I enjoy her plots, her characterisation, and her partnership with Little Chmura, who brings her characters to life with visual art. However, One For My Enemy was not as enjoyable as I had hoped it would be, falling a little flat in the places I was hoping it would shine.
Monthly Wrap-Up – May 2023: When Tears of The Kingdom Calls
Even though I had high hopes for my reading this month, I’m unsurprised that I managed to read a measly two books. Last month, when I was hopeful, it slipped my mind that the game The Legend of Zelda: Tears on the Kingdom would be released on 12 May, and after that, my reading was practically non-existent. Rather than find a good balance between reading and gaming, I threw myself into Tears of the Kingdom to indulge in nostalgia, and I don’t regret it one bit.
8 Unhinged Books You Need to Read
In a vast sea of literature, amongst every possible genre, some books stand out for embracing the weird and wonderful, for delving into topics often left untouched. When you stumble across books like these that leave a lasting impression thanks to their bizarre content, it’s hard to avoid discussing them, and that’s what I intend to do here.
Monthly Wrap-up – January 2023: New Year, Same Me
Despite having high hopes for the number of books I want to get around to reading this year, I’ve already created a lot of work for future me. Ideally, I would have read four books this month, but I’ve only managed to read three (well, two novels and a play). While the quality was incredibly high, and one of them had over 500 pages, I’m still a little bit annoyed with myself. However, it’s only the first month of the year and I have plenty of time to catch up.
How I Wrote 50,000 Words in a Month (and What I Learned)
I did it. I won. I reached my Nanowrimo goal. I wrote 50,000 words of potential rubbish in November. 50,550 to be precise. Now, I am that many words closer to having a completed first draft of an entire story and, I must admit, it feels great… But I’m not quite at my final goal yet.
The Ups and Downs of Book Adaptations
Although I’m aware that the world of book-to-film (or TV ) adaptations is fraught with tensions of a terrifying scale, I decided that for my post this week, I would put aside my usual pacifist hat and make unqualified judgements on the complexities of turning a book into visual media!
Monthly Wrap-Up – September 2022: I Read a Lot for Once
Looking back on it, September seemed to go really quickly, even though the last couple of weeks have dragged for me. After a *minor* surgery, there was nothing I could really do but read, and so I got through an unusual amount of books this month. Last month, I read just two books, so it shows that I had a lot more time on my hands, because I managed to read double that.
